This full-day course lasts 6 hours, with an additional hour allocated for breaks. We limit the class size to a maximum of 10 participants, ensuring personalised attention and effective learning.

Comprehensive Coverage – Learn about the relevant legislation, including the ‘Manual Handling Operations Regulations, 1992 (as amended).’ This helps ensure compliance and understanding of legal responsibilities.

Understanding Spinal Function – Gain insights into the causes of back injuries and best practices for back care. Understanding spinal function is crucial for preventing injuries and also maintaining long-term health.

Identifying and Avoiding Controversial Techniques – We will highlight techniques considered unsafe or controversial in people handling. This knowledge helps participants recognise and avoid potentially harmful methods.

Introduction to Manual Handling Aids – Discover a range of small manual handling aids that can make handling tasks easier and safer. Practical demonstrations will further showcase how these aids can be effectively utilised.

Practical Demonstrations – Engage in hands-on practice of safer manual handling techniques using the principles of biomechanics. This practical component ensures that delegates can apply these skills in real-life scenarios.

Hoist Practice (Where Applicable) – For those who require it, hoist practice will be included to demonstrate the safe use of lifting equipment. This is particularly useful for healthcare and care home settings.

* Small manual handling aids will be demonstrated and provided by the trainer. Larger moving and handling practical training would be demonstrated on the sites own equipment where applicable.
